Onto gear only available via the marketplace! The slick hood and mittens.

Hood

Appearance

Its unique, somewhat like an aviator helmet meets a hood. In terms of look choices you have - 6 rubber textures, 6 leather and 6 metal.Its also mod, so you can freely adjust stuff like shine if you so wished.

The nose holes can be toggled. The gags don't visually change anything, nor does the blindfold. Adjusting whether the hood is in plain locked, unlocked or public modes does change the light on the back of the collar however. Similarly using the earmuffs changes those glowing rings on the side of your hood.

Function


The hood has quite a lot. When you first click, you get the option to lock. From there you get the meat of the options. The first 3 options are tickboxes. Lock, No Touch and Public. If you use public? Yeah, you're stuck unless some kind person turns it off. Or takes you home and plays with you. Either could be fun.

Next up is gags. there are a few options in here, which stack actually. The muffler makes you whisper, the mouth gag option, which is standard gagging really, garbling. Expand is fun, making you very hard to understand . The last one is throat gag.. and this is nasty. It blocks emotes and chat, sending out messages of its own instead of just '...' at least. Also in this menu is Deny emote and Deny IM

The blindfold is next. It uses windlight/environmental settings to blind instead of a HuD, so effective at keeping you blind no matter what. Three levels of blinding. Tint Glass is faint, blur is pretty effective, and blind is.. blind. There's also mouselook here.


The earmuffs are simple enough, three options. Deaf turns the hoods glowing rings red, and makes chat not work. No Emotes apparently fills your ears with white noise, making it hard to concentrate enough to see what people are doing, and No IMs does not need an explanation.

the leash is next, simple to use. Timelock as well, just make sure to turn it on after setting the time up. Appearance lets you adjust the texture to the rubber, leather or metal ones, and turn the nose holes on/off.

In the bottom row there is one option, Advanced. You can make the hood be quiet in local. get you the hood NCs, update it and lastly turn on hardcore mode. Hardcore disables the reset option, and can't be turned off once its on. Use at your own discretion. The reset button turns up if you have RLV off.

Mittens

Appearance

Padded, with a zip running down the back of the mitten and a white pad over your palm. They have the same amount of textures and colours as the hood. The white wristband and pad cannot be adjusted via the appearance menu however, so you'll need to manually use mod to change that. Can also add shine this way.

Function

Functionally, this thing is quite similar to the hood. There's the Public plugin again, same case as the hoods. Turn ti on and you can only hope someone is kind enough to help and/or kidnap you.

Touch is next, it lets you adjust the restrictions on, you guessed it, touching. Near touch, or in other words disabling far touch, is self explanatory. No Objects means you can't touch stuff lying around, not self means nothing you have on, and lastly Not Others doesn't let you mess with others stuff. There's also Not Mittens, meaning you can touch your own mitts.

The inventory menu is a bit different, letting you restrict Images, Notecards, edit or your entire inventory. Those first two especially aren't common to see. After this you get timelock and Appearance, both the same as the hoods. Likewise for Advanced.

My thoughts on both

I like these items, though I admit I don't use em much. They are both good and bad for RP, depending on your captor, and as usual, deny IM makes me go ugh. I suppose for Sci Fi RP though, the hood would be very good.

the RR realkey system explained

I don't have time to do a proper review tonight (plus I'm a little.. tied up) so I thought I'd do this instead.

You've bought a nice new restraint from Marine, but don't want to get permanently stuck, or want to give cartain people full access at all times. This is what the realkey is for.

First up, get your restraint, put it on (and lock it to be safe if you are in a public area)

Go to plugins, then to the realkey menu. Its generally on the first page of the plugins.
Inside the Realkey menu, you then have 4 options. Mode (Turns it off, on, or on touch), Get Realkey, set pwd and new pwd.
First up, rather use new pwd or set pwd to get a password you like, then nab the key.
If you use set, you will get a message in local telling you to use a certain channel (/662 for example) to set the password. In this case you would do /662 123456. It mustbe 6 digits long.
Attatch the key, and in chat will again appear a message asking you to set the password via a channel (such as 662 again)
Do this and set it to the same password as your restraint.
Hand it out to friends/alts/whomever
They can now access your restraint providing the plugin is not turned off.

So you then buy ANOTHER restraint from RR. This time you don't need to follow all the steps above.
Go to the realkey menu in the new toy, hit set pwd and set it to the same as your other restraint and realkey.
There you go, the one key can now free you from both restraints.

I hope I explained this well enough for people who find the system confusing. Realkeys can be a real life saver at times.

RF Discipline suit

Another great latexy piece from RF. In many ways this seems to have been the foundation for the body corset, they have a fair few similarities.


Looks.. For an older item now, its pretty good still. The mittens and straps all work well, but unfortunatly I just cannot bring myself to like that hood. If a padded hood is to your taste though, you will love it. Down the back you can see a lot of straps and holes for lacing. All in all it looks liek what it is, very tight, and perhaps one of the ultimate bondage items.

Function - There is a ton, this will be a long section. First up is a HUD that is active at all times. This makes your screen appear as if you are actually looking through the hold in the hood. Quite nice, but can be a pain for those of us with other HUD attachments.

Continuing with the hoods function - It has quite a few things. The gag has 4 levels (mumble, garble, incoherant and thinking). Being an older item it doesn't force channel you but instead punishes you if you try to chat around it. The blindfold has 3 levels, veil which merely puts a transparent cover over you eyes without actually stripping you of your vision, cover which does restrict you. You can see, but with difficulty, and blind which.. blinds you. Theres also a deafen command that blocks out all words, only one level.

I believe it comes packaged with a script you put in you hair, which hides your hair while the hood is showing. Hit hide in the hoods options, and the hood vanishes and your hair reappeares. I never used this script and its been a very long time since I bought the suit, so if I'm mistaken, please let me know

It has a built in relay, and some of Katies own plugins such as keep away and invisi cage. It also has a bell, probably to alert anyone to a sub trying to wriggle away.

The arms can be bound in five positions. Mummify which wraps them tight in against your body under the latex suit, prayer which does a reverse prayer position, cross heart, cross back and straitjacket. It also has a User Anim option, presumably for your own positions that you can drop in.

The Legbinder can be used completely seperatly from the hood and arms. It has 7 positions. Standing, hogtie, kneel, lay belly, sit, lay back and.. Dance. Dance makes you start hopping about on the spot and can only be used while bound in the standing position. It also has a sit AO, letting you settle down on a chair or the like while still bound.

The MD cuff review

Just a quick one. Someone pointed out a mistake in my review regarding the owner system of the cuffs. I had been locked out of this menu by a former Mistress sometime ago and had no idea it even existed anymore (we're talking a long time ago now).

Due to this, I have went back over my review and made soem changes, as wlel as increasing the score as it seems better value for money with this owner system I had accidently overlooked.

I apologise for the mistake! I'll try and make it up to any readers who moved away from buying it possibly due to my review.. Though I doubt theres any who did right enough.

Aria

*ash* inflatable gag

Here it is, perhaps the only real inflatable gag in SL. There are others that look like one, but aren't.. I'll explain in this post.

As usual, we start with looks. This gags look is nice, fairly basic. Up close the part where the strap and the gag panel connect looks a little off, but otherwise no complaints. It has 3 colours settings. Black, pink and white.



On function, this is where it shines. You press the bulb and.. Hey, it inflates! Making it harder to speak. Sounds basic right? Yet no other gag in SL has this. The cold embrace gag has a bulb and such sure, but only the key holder can inflate it, touching the bulb itself does nothing. I believe the RF humane gag has a gag pump option as well, but its purely aesthetic unfortunatly.

It can be pumped up 4 times, each level making it harder to understand us subs. If you press the little silver valve just above the bulb, it deflates one level, although no message comes up to say as such. A sound effect plays if you have certain options on however. (more on this later). It can be protected, which I presume makes it so no one can inflate it bar the keyholder. I've never used it, so not sure on this, and at the time of this review I have no one to help me test it out.

You can of course give the key away if you hold it yourself. It also has an owners system and a timelock. It can be made to carry a penalty which makes the timelock last longer, as well as the option to adjust the channel it sends messages through and the label that comes up with said message. It has some RLV restrictions you can turn on and off (emotes, Ims, etc) and also some sounds that can play when you inflate or deflate the gag.

RealRestraint Armbinder

Probably the best armbinder in SL (sorry Katie at RF) in terms of apperance and function. Lets get it reviewed.



To start, it looks great. Go in close and you cna make out every stitch in the leather, the buckles and studs, it all looks very good. It has 6 differant looks and binding types. The first 3 are more classic armbinders. The first is a sort of armsack that puits you in reverse prayer, the second is classic lace up, while the third is laceup with extra straps to ensure theres no chance of escape.

The second set of options are more.. Strict. The first is the armsack again, only this time it covers the shoulders as well, leaving your arms and hands completely trapped. The second is a smooth binder covering your shoulders down to your hands, no laces, nos traps, just one solid piece of leather. The final is similar, but with straps to make sure its nice and snug.

In terms of function, it carries many of the expected RR plugins. Leash, realkey, colour changer, autolock, etc. It also carries a touch restriction that can be activated for certain poistions, so you cna sitll touch objects in option 2, but not in option 3 for example. It also carries force sit.

GL Vacuum Cube

Not a worn restraint this time, but one that deserves a review for been so shiny.

This is a new release from GL and works similar to their vacuum beds. The victim gets dragged into it, the air gets sucked out leaving a silihoute of shiny latex in the middle where the poor sub is, trapped in nice thick latex. In terms of looks its really quite nice, its shiny, has a lot of differant colours (22!) and even the tubes at the edge look like you'd expect from a real vacuum product. It also has a nice topside view for those that like to see just how well it forms to the female shape.


In terms of function, it has a key option which lets the keyholder keep the person trapped. If the key holder is not the owner of the device however, the key is returned automatically after 24 hours, a very nice addition for when the subs get stuck due to a domme with RL issues or who is merely an ass.




It can be switched between male and female settings, has an autolock feature (if someone sits in it, it immediatly locks and starts the timer), the timer can have time added and taken away, and have access to it removed from the general public. You can also turn off the auto timer, meaning the sub is stuck until its rather activated and runs through, or till they are released. You can hide the timer as well, if you want to make the poor sub sweat.. Metaphorically of course, trust me when I say been stuck in between sheets of tight latex gets very hot. It doesn't gag you though, unfortunatly, and its hard to put a gag in once the sub is contained.

Once the sub is contained, you can remove her clothes and attachments via the RLV menu, or use the menu to use the other typical RLV restrictions (Location, chat, IM, etc)

All in all, a very nice little toy.

Function - Turns a sub into a mere latex statue quite easily, has some fun little additions, but nothing ground breaking - 7/10
Price - 499 linden. Considering how much most vendors charge, thats cheap as chips - 8/10
