Corset Sophie - Venus Corset

A new (to me) store, a piece of gear that's incredibly rare IRL.. Lets get to work

Appearance

It looks like it is, incredibly tight and restrictive, pinning your arms away so snugly you almost appear not to have any. Venus corsets aren't well known, nor do they appear often, but damn are they nice.

This one is quite customisable. You can recolour the corset, its boning, its lacing, etc. It also comes with a variety of skirts, ruffs a catsuit, ballet boots and more. It also has two different versions when you buy it, Closed top and open top.

The closed is smooth, tight, shiny latex (or maybe patent leather) all the way from top to bottom, as inescapable as it looks. The Open uses fake breasts instead, which is a little disappointing, though you can also recolour those to match your skin at least. It also has an AO of sorts built in, that occasionally makes you rock back and forth a little as if taking a deep breath, or trying to.

When locked, padlocks appear on the clasps, and around the boots if you use them. Big ornate locks around your ankles.

It comes with a full colour hud,which is frankly terrible, and involves extremely slowly recolouring it by using arrows to alter the value by 1 or 10 at a time. Slowly. Unresponsively.

The extras include a pair of ankle boots, and some very ornate ballet boots as well. It includes two skirts that hobble your legs, pressing them tight together and making you walk differently, though they do not seem to slow you down unless locked. Oddly the ankle boots are rigged mesh, but the ballet are individual boots.

If its not clear already, I'm pretty sure Sophie has a thing for Victorian style dress

Lastly the closed version has a sort of hypnotism hud in it. The open.. lacks it for some reason.

Sadly it has a couple of issues. For some reason the closed top one has fake thighs if you use the short skirt, though the topless one doesn't. The closed one has no way to hide them, so they may clash with a lot of avis, and those that like to wear long stockings or a catsuit underneath will see issues. Furthermore the open top one includes a pair of mesh ballet boots, which the closed doesn't have.

You also can't recolour the clasps holding the front closed, nor the rings on the back that hold the laces in place, at least from what I could see

All in all it looks good, but the fake body parts are unfortunate.

Function

In the box are two corset types. Trained and training. Trained instantly unlocks everything, no need to wait to get it tighter. With training, you need to be patient and tighten the corset over time. Too tight and you may faint.

The menu is fairly simple. Top left is Tighten, next to it is loosen. Top right lets you turn the AO off. Then you have the constraints menu. In here you can adjust what people can do to you, set up a timelock.. And expose it. If you expose it, say bye to this menu, you're stuck unless someone disables the expose for you. Truly evil. Oh, and did I mention that your owner can punish you by exposing it as well?

In the next menu (setup), you can do a few things. Add an owner for example. When an owner is added, the sub can lock herself.. but not unlock, so be careful. You can also get the help NC, change the language, adjust if it sends messages to chat or not, etc.. and RAZ. Which resets the restraint.. including training. Very useful to torment a poor sub who just finished her training.

Lastly there is Skirt Short and Skirt mid. the Short option on the closed corset rezzes those fake thighs mentioned before, while the mid thankfully hides them. Next to these is EXIT, to close the menu and such.

My thoughts

I love the concept of a Venus corset, so this one is really appealing to me. The odd appearances quirks confuse me though. The fake thighs especially, not being able to recolour the clasps or lacing rings is odd, the fake breasts I can live with, but would love the option to hide and put my own assets on display. Oh well. All in all its looks pretty good, functions well, and is the perfect way to contain a kidnapped sub you want to train.

There's a few typos here and there in the English text, but Sophie is French, so perfect English is not expected.

The issues with items in both boxes being different, the fake thighs, etc, I think are simple oversights, and may even be fixed by the time I post this.

So I stress this, these issues are likely simple mistakes, not deliberate. Keep an eye out for updates or the like that fixes some of them.

All images show only gear from the box, including the catsuit leggings, skirts, boots, etc, bar for my collar.

I sadly cannot recommend this restraint.

KaS Neck Corset and Chastity belt

First review of 2012! KaS restraints, which will mean I've covered the entire store..

Neck Corset

Quality

First up, this is KaS. I really don't need to say it looks good, because lets face it, all KaS gear does. All it really needs is an option to hide the metal bar at the front  and maybe have an option to cover the mouth and it would be perfect.. At least to this reviewers opinion.

Liek all KaS gear, it comes with a lot of built in colours, with each section able to be done seperately (Main corset, border, lacing and metal) as wlel as a pattern option that gives it a small design around the dges, that can be a little hard to see.

Function

Lets start as normal, top left. Leash.. Unlike most, you can actually press this and have the leash go into your own hand. Then theres AnyLeash. This lets you leash yourself (or your captive) to anyone and anything in SL. To my knowledge, theres nothing it cannot leash to, though I'm nto sure how it works with mesh objects yet. Third option is leash lnegth, self explainitory.

Bottom left is lock, with the secone been posture. Posture adjusts how high up your head is forced by the neck corset, with normal been not too strict, and high been very. Lastly we have the options menu.

In here, we have a lto more things. Up the top is Update, then add owner. The neck corset can have 5 owners.. And once oen is added, I believe a lot of the options in this menu disapear. Be careful of that. Theres Rem. Owner after it, followed by resize and Hide. Hide is handy for wandering around without removing your (or your subs) restraint as always. You can set it to private or public use, which works well with the hide command as well.

Theres Gag mode, though saldy this does not make the corset lengthen up to cover yoru mouth. It adjust the chin covering to accomodate your mouth bee wide open. Can be set to off, on or auto. Lastly we have Coloring, self explainitory and Animate, which lets you access the the built in anims, and I think you can drop more in as well.

Chastity Belt

Quality

Moving onto the belt now. Its made of tight metal, with what looks to be a rubber border around the waist. Not much to say really, its tight, made of metal and its KaS, so its very highly detailed. You can adjust how glossy it is (Border/metal can be done seperatly or together) and both the border and metal of the belt can be recoloured.

Function

First theres lock, and leave/take key. Can be set to public or private use (private means the key is required for non-owners to use), a leash and some more leashing options. You can leash to a post, or have the belt get a chain to link it to other KaS objects. Lnegth is of course adjustable.

The next menu is Toys.. I think people can guess whats in here. VIbes can be shoved in, turned on and off as well as set to differant levels. theres also a strapon. You can also hide the belt here, or have the metal crotch covering removed or re-secured depending on your mood.

Back to the main menu. Next up is Inspect, which works with Sensations if you use their gear. Next is Give Tools, which gives out two leash holders (one ofr each hand) as well a leash post, a post script for making your own and a manual for the belt.

Next we have options. Theres a **help** option, fairly obvious. The color/shine menu, and update. Then theres the sound volume, which adjust how loud the vibrators get.. Followed by resize. Next is chat menu. This allows you to turn on a channel and command to access the belt without touching it. You can adjust which channel its set to, so only you and your owner knows it if you so desire.

You can allow or deny orgasms with the next option, presumably this works with Sensations again. Lastly there is underwear, a nice little option that makes out that the belt is now worn under your clothing. Very handy as it allows the belt to be left active with whatever nasty options are turned on, as opposed to Hide belt that removes everything.

Neck Corset
Quality - This does look good, no two ways around it. Just needs a couple more options to be perfect to me - 9/10
Function - Has a lot, an effective posture device with everything one needs - 10/10
Price - 1150 linden.. As much as it has, I'm nto sure I can justify this at all - 5/10
Average - 6.. Deserves more, but the price pulls it down.

Chastity Belt
Quality - Looks good, carries a lot of customization. A good belt - 8/10
Function - Has a lot of stuff, and does everything a belt needs.. Bar inflatables anyway, but they aren't 100^ required - 8/10
Price - 495 Linden. Very reasonable - 8/10
Average - 8

RF corset

Felt it was time to do something a little differant tonight. Time for a corset!

So on looks.. Its very nice, as exoected of RF. The detail is very high, showing off teh stitching along the seams, the laces actually been tied, the straps at the front look great, and of coure its shiny.

I will say however, I had to heavily edit to fit my shape, and the inbuilt resizer rather made it too short or too wide for me. This isn;t that bad though, considering my shape seems to be a bit taller and more slender than a lot of gear is designed for. Thankfully its full mod and editting prims is easy enough. Katie mentions this in the products NC and on the sign you buy it form, so theres no excuse to go ranting at her for it, she did warn us.


On colours - First up choos eone of the sections (Metal, Strap, Corset or lacing) to get into the menu for that part. Metal has 3 colours, Bronze, silver and gold. The straps can be made either latex or leather, with 10 leather and 9 latex colours. The lacing has 9 colours and then theres the main corset.

It has all the options of the leather and latex ones, same as teh straps, then anothe rmenu marked as Others. In here are 9 other looks for it. Tie-Dyed, Steel, Wood, Floral, Argyle, Denim, Plaid, Lace and Brocade.

Now onto function. One major warning, do NOT remove yourself from owners unless you really want to be in bad situations. The NC warns of this as well.

The leveling is not unlike the KaS corset (to be covered later by me). You go to the highest level you can, and eventually it will open up a tighter option. However it has a few extras to make it more interesting.

The corset has a built in breath meter hidden away, and if you have the corset set higher than your comfort level, you may faint. When you faint, you lose some progress towards the next comfort level. On top of this, there is a machine included in the box. Sitting on this machine will tighten the corset by two levels instead of one, putting you past what the options allow. Doing this allows for faster training, but also makes you faint faster.

If you remove yourself from owner and teh corset gets locked well.. You're not in for a good time.Theres no way to loosen the corset if its locked and you are not set as an owner. This is epescially bad if you are on the machine setting, and have it tightened by two levels. I'm pretty sure you faint often enough that you can't level without loosening it.

There are a total of 6 levels, getting steadily tighter.

Unlike other RF items, these have no keys, just an owner system. The corset can be hidden, to allow for the sub to wander without her waist been crushed. As of this moment in time, I have yet to find an expose command, so its unlikely some random person can click it and force it on you. The boning can be removed or added. When removed, it can be a little.. Iffy with a lot of AOs, and when on, may make you sway from side to side rather like you're drunk. This is mentioned in the products NC, and has a recomended walk anim to use mentioned along side it.

Scores!

Quality - Very high. Can be a bit iffy with some shapes, but Katie does put a disclaimer in the NC and on the products sign. - 8/10
Funciton - Quite a lot. An expose command would be nice, but not necessary. - 8/10
Price - 500 linden. Like most of her items, this is reasonable - 8/10
average - 8/10
